Okay, so I saw this question floating around online – “someone that is 6’1 and weighs 130” – and it got me thinking. Could I even get to that weight? I’m nowhere near 6’1, more like 5’8, but the whole idea of that height/weight ratio seemed wild, so I decided to do a little experiment on myself.
My Starting Point
I started this whole thing weighing in at around 165 pounds. I’m not super active, I’ll admit it, mostly just walking the dog and the occasional weekend hike. I’m not a big junk food eater but love pasta, and my portions are… generous. I’m just your regular type of guy.
The “Experiment” Begins
- First, I looked up a BMI calculator. Just plugging in 6’1 and 130 pounds gives you a BMI of like, 17.1. That’s officially underweight. It put into numbers how extreme that ratio sounded.
- Then I just tried to picture myself, but stretched out to 6’1. It was a funny mental image, so skinny!
Tracking My “Progress” (or Lack Thereof)
I did NOT try to actually get down to 130. Not only is that dangerous level for my height, but it’s just not realistic. Instead, I focused on small changes. I realized I needed more data to make this work, so I downloaded one of those free calorie-tracking apps. That alone was eye-opening. I had no idea how many calories were in some of my go-to meals.

I started by just logging my food, not even changing what I ate. After a week, I saw some patterns. I was eating way too much at dinner, and snacking a lot late at night.
Next Step I tried cutting my portions in half at dinner. Just that. It was surprisingly hard. I felt hungry for the first few days, but then my stomach seemed to adjust. I also swapped out my late-night snacks for fruit.
The Results (Not What I Expected!)
After a month, I weighed myself. I’d lost like, 5 pounds! I know, it’s not 130 pounds at 6’1, but it showed me that small changes do make a difference. I felt a bit more energetic too.
What surprised me the most that I actually started to enjoy tracking what I ate. It wasn’t about starving myself, but about being more aware. I’m still nowhere near that hypothetical 6’1, 130-pound physique, but I’ve got a better understanding of my own body. It was a fun little thought experiment that turned into a surprisingly useful real-life experience.
