Okay, here is my sharing about 13 run pool:
So, the other day I got sucked into this thing called a “13 run pool.” Never heard of it before, but a buddy of mine was all hyped up about it. Apparently, it’s a baseball thing, and since I’m always up for something new, I said, “why not?”
First off, we had to get a group together. Turns out, you can have up to 30 people in one of these pools. That’s a lot of people! We rounded up some friends, family, even some folks from work. Getting everyone organized was a bit of a mess, but we managed.

Next, each of us got assigned a Major League Baseball team. My buddy, the one who got me into this, said they usually do this randomly. I guess that makes it fair, but it also means you could get stuck with a not-so-great team. We used some website to randomly assign teams to everyone.
Once we all had our teams, the waiting game began. The whole point of this “13 run pool” is to be the first person whose team scores exactly 13 runs in a game. Not 12, not 14, but 13. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong!
We started tracking our teams’ scores. There are a bunch of websites where you can see live scores. Every time my team played, I was glued to the screen, watching the run count like a hawk. It’s kind of exciting, in a weird way. You’re just sitting there, hoping your team scores, but not too much.
Here’s the kicker: It actually takes longer than you’d think for a team to score exactly 13 runs. There were days when my team would score like 8 runs, and I’d be all excited, and then they’d just stop. Other days, they’d blow past 13 and score like 15 or something. It was frustrating!
We kept this up for a while. Some people got close a few times, but nobody hit that magic number. We were all getting pretty into it, though. Trash-talking each other, bragging when our teams did well, complaining when they didn’t. It was a good time, even if it was a bit silly.

- Get a group together (up to 30 people).
- Assign each person a Major League Baseball team.
- Track your team’s scores during games.
- First person whose team scores exactly 13 runs wins.
Finally, after a few weeks, it happened. One of the guys in our pool, his team scored 13 runs! He was ecstatic. We all congratulated him, even though we were a little jealous. He won the whole pot, which, let’s just say, made it worth the wait.
So, that’s my 13 run pool story. It was a fun little experiment, a good way to keep up with baseball, and a great excuse to hang out with friends. Would I do it again? Maybe. It’s definitely something different. If you’re looking for a new way to follow baseball, you might want to give it a shot. Just be prepared to wait… and maybe lose some money!
